Located directly in the central of Hamburg's city center, the Deutschlandhaus occupies a prominent position in the urban structure. Among Dammtorstrasse, Gänsemarkt, Colonaden and Jungfernstieg, the building is situated in the middle of a lively district with many offices, restaurants, retail and cultural venues.
The Atrium is the heart of the building. It is featured an intensive interior greening, which is unique in Hamburg. Up to 18 meters high, the palm trees are placed in a two-part planting trough as a central eye-catcher for all visitors. The attractive ground vegetation, paired in a composition of boulders completes the extraordinary picture and creates a high-class open space.
Complementing the design in the atrium is an open courtyard on the same floor, which provides sufficient light incidence for the adjoining offices. The fire wall facing the neighboring building is covered with sotiphicated vegetation as an attractive view for the offices on the opposite side: the green wall is subdivided into a pixel pattern of planted and matt, reflective panels.
A central pool, with its thin water film, not only reflects the beautiful green wall but also distributes daylight into the offices.
