A homogeneous material combination for streets, sidewalks, curbs and steps is planned for the entire Nikolaiquartier BID. In addition to the new, light gray asphalt sidewalk for the roadways, the sidewalks will be paved with beige concrete slabs. This will integrate the Nikolai quarter into the overall image of Hamburg's city center. In order to make the roadway appear narrower and less dominant, the street drains will also be finished in the same material as the sidewalks.
This cohesive design is continued in the elements, which include streetlights, benches and trash bins. To emphasize the importance of the Großer Burstah for the neighborhood, large lamps are hung here as markers in the street.
