BID Mönckebergstraße

Concept

Mönckebergstraße is a street in Hamburg Oldtown, in the Hamburg-Mitte district. The street stretches between the main railway station and the town hall for about 800 meters. In Mönckebergstraße, there are currently hardly any attractive offers to linger in the public space. The furniture is mismatched, unmaintained, inadequate and parts of the elements are missing. As part of the BID, it is therefore planned to install representative and high-quality seating furniture, bicycle standers and bollards along the furniture strip of Mönckebergstrasse and Spitalerstrasse in the area around the Starbucks Café. The goal is to improve the quality of stay and attractiveness of the public space.

design

In according to previous decisions, it was decided to install a homogeneous furnishing in the BID Mönckebergstraße. These include matching benches, bike standers, and bollards. In Mönckebergstraße itself, groups of benches consisting of four elements will be installed, aligned with furnishings design at Stadthausbrücke. Around the Starbucks Café at the Mönckeberg fountain, four large round benches with wooden surfaces are planned under the canopy of the existing plane trees.
